Timothy Long is a Management Consultant and owns Belmar Innovations LLC consulting business, in Alexandria, VA. Belmar Innovations specializes in working with companies who want to do business in the retail/restaurant industry, and with companies who are in the retail/restaurant industry who want to improve operations. Belmar’s main focus is to help companies improve their recruiting and training processes. The company’s philosophy is an old one: “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for the rest of his life.” Tim also has 7 years of teaching experience and is an Adjunct Professor at Northern Virginia Community College.
Tim has a BSBA from West Virginia University and an MBA from Averett University. With over 30 years of both Management and Marketing experience in the Hospitality Industry, Tim has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in both Management and Marketing. The majority of Tim’s career was in operations and involved training and developing managers on how to effectively run businesses in this industry. His expertise in the Hospitality Industry range from Food and Beverage Cost Control to Inventory Management to People Management and Supervision. Tim has run operations and opened restaurants for major corporations such as Marriot, Bennigan’s, Planet Hollywood, Legal Seafood, and Bowlmor. And has worked in many major markets in the United States including Ney York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, and of course, Washington, D.C.
Tim is the currently the President of the Santa Claus Yacht Club (SCYC) in Alexandria, VA. The SCYC helps families in need in the local community. The club’s mission is to improve the lives of the impoverished and distressed in our community by organizing the caring power of our members and supporters. The SCYC's passion is to help anchor our society by reducing the effects of poverty on our youth and helping them reach their fullest potential.
Tim also sits on the Board of Directors of the DC Food and Beverage Collective. The DCFBC’s mission is to educate and enrich our community through fun food and beverage experiences. The collective promotes the Washington, D.C. Food and Beverage scene in a fun and responsible manner through events highlighting restaurants, chefs, sommeliers, cicerones, and other professionals in the industry. Proceeds from these events are used to provide scholarships for culinary students and to support charity organizations such as Martha's Kitchen and DC Central Kitchen.
